I never realised how metabolically confused my body was :(
I used to think I was just doing it wrong. The butternut I ate instead of the cabbage, the white potato I snuck in because I missed the warm fuzzy feeling of it in my belly. I thought that if I could just find the willpower to say no to everything I didn’t think I could have, then everything would be okay.
What I didn’t realize is that in all the complexities of what I was telling myself, the answer was quite simple. It was never that I wasn’t strong enough, my body was metabolically confused.
Metabolic disorders don’t always scream for attention. They whisper behind the scenes: missed periods, constant fatigue and brain fog, sugar crashes, bloating, cholesterol warnings, mood swings. Weight is just another side effect. It’s about the systems in your body that regulate everything, from hormones to energy to digestion.
For years I was stuck in that loop. I tried every diet and kept blaming myself. Until I stopped punishing my body and started listening to it, that’s when my real healing began.
