I was recommended by someone on a local Facebook group where the OP was looking for assistance to lower their BMI. What disappointed me, is that my comment offering free insights from my page was deleted... and tons of comments pushing weight loss drugs as a solution, even offers for shady deals, were left up.
I see more and more people pushing weight-loss drugs as solution and while it certainly is lifesaving for those who truly need this level of medical intervention, it’s become a very dangerous scapegoat when the weight you carry is simply a symptom of a much bigger problem.
It’s no different from the rest of the conventional medical world where symptoms are treated as dis-ease... where the root cause is overlooked, under-acknowledged, and worst of all, swaddled in pity.
We live lives our human nervous systems were not designed for. We consume by-products and chemicals we were never meant to metabolize. We expose ourselves daily to the noise and toxicity that society has become, and then we wonder why we are fat and sick. We wonder why we depend on food, alcohol, and drugs to feel good at the end of the day.
Most medical marvels that have taken the world by storm only showed their long-term consequences ten to twenty years later... and I fear this will be no different. When X-rays first became popular, they were used in shoe stores to measure foot size. People literally stood in radiation for fun, until the burns, tumours, and amputations started. It took decades to admit the damage. One thing about history... it repeats itself. Another thing about human beings is that we don't learn from our mistakes.
Weight-loss drugs are being pushed onto desperate people at an alarming rate, promising freedom from something that was never about weight in the first place. And don’t tell me it’s not desperation. I know what desperate for relief feels like... I've lived it. If you’re eating, drinking, or numbing out because you need a break from life, you have bigger problems than the one sitting directly in front of you.
And let’s be honest about the risk. These drugs are known to cause gastric paralysis, when your stomach literally stops working. Food can sit there for days, rotting instead of moving. The digestive system is sacred. It’s the home of Chi, the fire of Agni in Ayurveda, and the seat of your enteric nervous system. Why would you mess with that?
Don’t do it. You were blessed with an incredible body, a biological miracle capable of healing itself. You can heal from the inside out, but you can’t get your life back once it’s gone.
Love yourself enough to give your body the sanctity and honour it deserves. The vessel that carries you through this beautiful life deserves more than the shit you put in it. If it’s not made by your hands, by the purity of this earth, or by someone you can trust, it doesn’t belong in your body.
Loving yourself is more than looking in the mirror and thinking you look pretty. It’s knowing you gave yourself the best chance at living your life and enjoying this human experience to the fullest.
